Hi from New Zealand, This will be the start of a new built to replace my aged 600 size MD500E.
I got the tail control rod guide I designed back today and it will work!
It is a close fit inside the fuse boom up against the glass, however it is PTFE on glass and by the time I fit the do nut, there will be minimal if any pressure on the inside of the fuse boom glass at all. The clamp position on the Align boom is already offset toward the front a bit so I don't want to push it any further forward. This area can always be checked later and at worst a thin layer of glass or even epoxy only to shore it up if ever really needed anyway.
Plan now is to cut the carbon rod at least 100mm from the end of fuse boom and go about fitting the steel 2.3mm rod for which I have a die. I will make a decent length of thread where the rod will go into the carbon rod giving both clearance to carry some JB Weld or equivalent and also grip. I plan on seeing if I can re- use the alloy cap from the Align rod end to cap off the carbon rod after the cut.
Then the steel rod will need a minimal lateral bend inwards from the do nut exit to go around the Align boom clamp and onto the pitch arm control ball which will be fitted inverted. I have yet to do some minor mods to make this work. But when done it will be friction free, very straight and very neat and tidy
I have a great deal of trouble getting images on here and when I do they are not oriented correctly - I cannot get images stored with
https://imgbb.com/ on here either?
